About University of South Florida
The University of South Florida campus is located on the north side of Tampa, Florida, near the city of Temple Terrace. USF began in 1956 and today is the third largest university in Florida, and largest campus in the Tampa Bay area. Within USF are the School of Music, ROTC, Contemporary Art Museum, and Center for Urban Transportation Research. Most students live in off-campus apartments nearby.
USF is located on Fletcher Avenue, directly north of downtown Tampa on interstate highway 275, which also reaches the airport. The USF campus is serviced by a local HART bus route, and is near the University Mall, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Busch Gardens theme park. The Lowry Park Zoo is a few miles south of the USF campus.
USF also maintains a smaller campus in downtown St. Petersburg on the west side of Tampa Bay, which houses the College of Marine Science. Other USF satellite campuses are open in the cities of Sarasota and Lakeland.
